The 25th anniversary of ALBORS GALIANO PORTALES was commemorated on Thursday, 10th of December during the traditional Christmas cocktail organised by our Firm at the Ritz Hotel (Madrid).
Almost two hundred guests joined the reception and shared with us this meaningful event. We were highly honored by the presence of Mr. Julio Fuentes (Secretary-General of the Ministry of Justice) and Mr. Rafael Rodríguez Valero (Director General for the Merchant Marine), as well as clients, collaborators, and professionals in the maritime, insurance and reinsurance field.
Professor José Luis Gabaldón García, a referent in Spanish Maritime Law, introduced the book “25 YEARS OF MARITIME AND INSURANCE LAW PRACTICE”, edited by our Firm on the occasion of its 25th anniversary and whose prologue was drafted by the renowned Professor.
Then it was our partners’ time to take the floor. Eduardo Albors thanked all the guests and explained that the book is a compilation of articles about our Firm’s main issues of concern alongside some landmark cases dealt with by ALBORS GALIANO PORTALES throughout the last years. It is a limited edition print, and will also be available shortly in eBook format on our website www.alborsgaliano.com
Eduardo Albors proudly announced the Firm’s decision to reinforce the Yachting practice area with the incorporation of Carlos Sanlorenzo as Senior Associate. Sanlorenzo specialises in Maritime Law, and particularly in Yachting. He is also Secretary-General of ANEN (Spanish Marine Trade Association).
Javier Portales tackled a hot topic: the discovery of the wreck of galleon San José in the Colombian Caribbean Sea. The journal “Expansión” published an interesting article of our partner regarding this issue.
Finally, Javier Galiano presented the ALBORS GALIANO PORTALES Award to the student with the best academic record of the International Maritime Law Course organised by the Spanish Maritime Institute and ICADE Business School (Comillas Pontifical University). The distinction has been awarded to our colleague, and Associate of our Firm, Jaime Mateo Uriarte.
