Eduardo Martínez joins the Madrid office of Albors Galiano Portales.

Practising lawyer since 2017, with experience both in judicial and extrajudicial matters related to tort law and civil liability, until his incorporation he has provided his services in the procedural law area of Uria. Eduardo holds a Degree in Law and Business Administration and Management from the University of Valencia, a Master's Degree in Access to the Legal Profession from the University Carlos III of Madrid, ISDE and Specialist in #International Maritime Law by ICADE-IME in 2020.

Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships. UNCITRAL

From 27 June to 15 July 2022, the 55th session of the UNCITRAL Commission (United Nations Commission on International Trade Law) is being held in New York (at the United Nations Headquarters). Following the observations submitted by governments and international organisations at its 55th session, the Commission has decided to submit the draft Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships, prepared by Working Group VI (Judicial Sales of Ships), to the UN General Assembly for approval, which is likely to happen by the end of the year (previous work discussed here). It has also been decided to name this text the "United Nations Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships" (or Beijing Convention), authorising the treaty's signing ceremony to be held in Beijing in 2023 - following this delegation's offer - at which point the Convention would be open for signature by States wishing to do so. The Convention was originally promoted by the International Maritime Committee (Athens Conference, 2008), with a first text adopted at its Beijing Conference in 2012. Juan Pablo Rodriguez Delgado Of Counsel at ALBORS GALIANO PORTALES

As of 1st June 2021, Juan Pablo Rodriguez Delgado, Senior Lecturer of Commercial Law at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, will join the team at Albors Galiano Portales as Of Counsel. He will assist the Maritime and Insurance teams of the firm. With his incorporation, the firm seeks to further strengthen its links with academia. Juan Pablo is Lecturer at the Universidad Carlos III in several areas, both undergraduate and postgraduate, including Company Law, Commercial Contracts, Business Law for Entrepreneurs or Maritime Law. He is also the coordinator of several Master courses at the Universidad Carlos III and ISDE. He majored in Law at the Universidad Carlos III, where he holds a PhD in Law in 2015 with a Thesis on the Period of Responsibility of the sea carrier. Juan Pablo is currently the Coordinator of the moot court competition Moot Madrid (www.mootmadrid.es) and the Law Summer School in Madrid (organized by Seattle University and Carlos III). He is also the coach of the university team at the International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot organized by Murdoch University (Australia).
