The Spanish Maritime Law Association (SMLA) celebrated its Annual Congress on 16 and 17 of June in Madrid. The subject of the symposium was: “European Shipping Law – The influence of EU Law in the shipping sector on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the accession of Spain to the European Union”.

Our Associate José Manuel González Pellicer participated in the debate regarding the shipping and ship-building industry and the EU, and tackled several topics including the ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) regarding the “Tax Lease”.

Furthermore, our Partner Eduardo Albors participated in the panel discussion on the influence of EU Law on resolutions of shipping disputes, as well as the relation between the Spanish Shipping Act, and the regulations and case law of the EU.
