The Spanish Parliament failed to ratify the RD-Law to modify the regime for stevedores

The Spanish Parliament failed to ratify the Royal Decree-Law which was approved by the Council of Ministers so as to modify the regime for workers that provide port services handling goods -stevedores- ( with a view to comply with the ruling handed down by the Court of Justice of the European Union).  As a consequence all previously  announced strikes have been called off by the stevedores and the Spanish Government may have to bear a daily fine of 135,000 Euro. The government’s proposal was shut down by 175 votes against, 142 in favor and 33 abstentions.

The Government shall likely pursue a further bill in similar terms, seeking support from the abstainers.
